2 days left!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 17, 2022 at 12:52:38 PM

Hey folks! We're getting close to the finish line! With only 2 days left, if you've been waiting to pledge or waiting to grab some extra community copies, now's the time.

We got a little nod this week from EN world this week if you wanna check it out: https://www.enworld.org/threads/rpg-crowdfunding-news-%E2%80%93-blade-runner-creatures-netherworld-eye-of-everywhere-and-more.688227/

I also ran a game for Rem Alternis' Game Night, if you wanna get a preview of the new book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfCNQzazXCA

We are so close to getting Robert Bohl to write a setting for the new book. If we can just get over the 15k hump! I believe in you! Let's do this!

Also, remember we'll be running Misspent Youth events at GenCon and Origins Game Fair, so if you are gonna go, come game with us! GenCon's evens are live, and Orgins' goes live on May 21.

3 days left!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 17, 2022 at 11:45:51 AM

Hey folks!

We are coming to the conclusion of the kickstarter with only 3 days left to go. We'd love to hit at least that first stretch goal number, so if you can share the campaign around or feel like upping your pledge, now's the time!

In the meantime, here is a second setting preview for Fall In Love, Not In Line. Remember, each setting will have a pilot episode included as well, so jumping into a game will never be easier.

Second Setting Preview

This setting comes from Zephira Phayde and includes what basically everybody wants in a setting: Big Stompy Robots.

Rinshasa City is a sight to behold, an island surrounded by spectacular coastlines, a near perfect climate that natives and visitors alike get to bask in regularly.  At night it’s as if the cosmos align for the perfect view of the stars, that many who have bore witness to would describe it as nothing short of divine.  The privilege of living in such a place has been critical to maintaining peace among the inhabitants, though some outsiders would seek to have this natural beauty to themselves.

Enter Chairman Arcanius Banam, an ambitious young executive whose rags-to-riches story ends with an almost imperial grip on casinos and resorts, and it wouldn’t be long until Rinshasa City fell into his crosshairs.  It would be a spectacular vacation destination and his elite target market would propel his wealth beyond even his own expansive vision, the only caveat being to keep the whole process clean and smooth.  Anything short of a signed contract would be insufficient for any long term endeavors, and convincing anyone to leave such a beautiful utopia would be borderline impossible, but when there’s a will there’s a way, and Banam has an iron will.

While the citizens of Rinshasa City are largely a peaceful people, the need for defense was always a real one, and a rather sizeable autonomous army defends the small nation, and their commitment to robotics development is unmatched, most recently with the newest development from the Rinshasa City Mecharobotics Team; a group of young engineers who were able to craft what could lead to the next great movement in robotics; the SoulDrive.  This piece of equipment allows its user to directly interface into a mech, providing the user with an unmatched control over movement, and nearly clairvoyant reflexes, and when Banam decided to begin more ‘aggressive’ negotiations, the team knew this would be the field testing they would have to do.

Campaign Finale Stream

Finally, tune in with us at https://www.twitch.tv/masterofrem on Tuesday as we live stream the final day of the campaign. We'll be making our own Misspent Youth setting using input from chat and then we'll be playing an episode in that new setting as we stream. There will be other fun stuff too, so I hope to see you on Tuesday!

GenCon TV Alert and Setting Preview #2
almost 2 years ago – Thu, May 12, 2022 at 12:33:03 PM

We've breached 13k! Boss job, folks. We appreciate you.

We've got less than 2k for our first stretch goal to get Robert's new setting in the core book. I believe in us!

GenConTV

We are appearing on GenConTV today!  We're getting to be on their new One-Shot show, where we'll be running a pilot episode from Misspent Youth: Fall in Love, Not in Line. If you haven't checked out one of our actual plays yet, come learn the game with us, and join the revolution TONIGHT (Thursday) 5pm PST/7 CST/8 EST!  Tune in an hour early for Rules of Cool (4pm PST/6 CST/7 EST) to hang out with Misspent Youth's creator Robert Bohl, FUG Founder Opti, and Lead Writer of Fall in Love, Not in Line, Clifton Lambert. Should be pretty dope.

Null Mirage Setting Preview

One of the new settings/pilot episodes you'll be getting in the new Fall In Love, Not In Line is Null Mirage by Nathan Blades (androgynous android gameshow host from the future). Check it out.

***The future glitters with an ocean of holograms. As advertising, as must-have product… And as a system of control.

The Wandsworth Company is the shining star of Mainframe City, having pioneered Mirages - a technology to make physical objects from light. Bathed in the glow of Mirages, Mainframe City looks radiant, but the bright lights hide the crumbling neglect of the populace underneath.

Mirage technology could change so many lives for the better… if they were allowed to own it. While Mirages are an inseparable part of the lives of Mainframe City residents, only subsidiaries of the Wandsworth Company are allowed to manufacture anything that uses it.

Those subsidiaries cover nearly every industry you can imagine and their company spokespeople are akin to celebrities; tech billionaire idols with control over every facet of your being.

So when a group of hobbyist tinkerers encounter a briefcase of experimental Mirage Projectors abandoned near their usual haunt, the immediate excitement of finding something so dope is layered with even more immediate danger.

These Mirage Projectors aren’t your garden-variety advertisements or decorations, they look an awful lot like weapons, armour and… AI-powered guardians?!

Taking this hot-ticket tech makes escaping their lots in life suddenly feel possible but if the Wandsworth Company ever find out who has their Grey-Ops tech, they’ll go to nearly any lengths to get it back. You’re not going to relinquish them without a fight, though.

Find out who dropped that fortuitous briefcase, punch tech bros with giant hologram fists and circuitbend a new age for Mainframe City!

Null Mirage is a cyberpunk setting with shounen battle anime energy. Inspired by the likes of MegaMan Star Force, No More Heroes and Digimon Ghost Game, experiment with blending the virtual with the physical, inventing odd hologram superpowers, and seeing just how far you’ll go to engage with daily technology on your own terms.***

Only 6 days left, chummers. I think we can hit 15k and reach 20k, too. I'd love to bring Dominique Dickey on, and I'd love to hit 25k so we can experiment with an audio version of the Misspent Youth rules.

Share with your pals and spread the news on social medias that we're awesome (its just a little bending of the truth, lol).

Thanks for all the support!!

Update time
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 10, 2022 at 04:50:11 AM

Hey pals!

We're doing great, but we could do better. I am salivating over here for us to do better. But progress isn't made through salivation alone. We are at $13,137, which means we are only $1,863 away from our $15k stretch goal to have Robert Bohl write a chapter for us in the new book! I'd love to have him actually put more words/worlds on this project, and I feel confident that we will, but also at $20k... Dominique Dickey will get to write some words as well...

We have some updates coming that will detail some of the settings that are included in the book, and don't forget, you can always add community copies to your pledge if you want to give someone else the chance to enjoy the game who might not be able to otherwise.

Thanks again for the support. More soon!

Some Fun Media
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 03, 2022 at 10:52:27 PM

Hey-O!

We've hit 12k! Thanks to you all for getting us here! We still have over two weeks to get even higher and meet those stretchy goals.

Interview with En World/"Not DnD"

We had a lovely interview with EN World's "Not DnD" stream yesterday. Jess was a super fun interviewer, and I even got a chance to drop my UK slang as I used "snogging" correctly on air.

Check out Jess, Cliff, and me here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyYLzJGA5Gg

A Session Of Misspent Youth in the Shadowrun Setting

On the last episode of Shadowrun: Origins (an actual play podcast which runs players through classic Shadowrun adventures), the crew paused their normal story to play a game of Misspent Youth in the Shadowrun Universe in 2048, where the crew are high schoolers in Detroit at Ares Macrotechnology City High. Super fun, and I think you'll enjoy it.

If you want to run a misspent youth game and have us share it, let us know!

Only 3k left until we get Robert Bohl's setting included in the new book!

See you next update!
